A woman’s eerie scream penetrates the Meat packing district while busy New Yorker’s question their consciences about taking action.
Every day people find themselves in emergency situations and every day there are murders, rapes, assaults and accidents.
Eye witnesses or those within earshot and other bystanders are increasingly apathetic. The phrase urban apathy was coined to describe the Kitty Genovese murder in 1964. It was alleged that there were thirteen either eye or within ear shot witnesses and none called the police. The 911 emergency call number was instated shortly thereafter.
